Valencias are the benchmark for juicing oranges, known for their deep orange hue, thin rind, and high juice yield. They offer excellent eating quality and post-harvest durability, making them one of the most exported citrus types from South Africa.

Belongs to Citrus sinensis. Valencia is a cultivar selected for its juiciness, sweetness, and late season bearing. It is a traditional sweet orange cultivar (not a recent hybrid)

Origin in South Africa / History:

Valencias are widely grown in SA, forming an important part of the orange export season, especially in later season. Many orange producers include Valencia in their plantings to maintain supply beyond the early to mid-season varieties.
